Historical UNSC: The Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) — Confronting the Threat of Nuclear War in a Bipolar World

This Historical committee takes place on October 22, 1962, right after JFK announces the discovery of Soviet missiles placed in Cuba, within range of the United States. The Soviet Union placed these missiles in response to rising tensions between the two superpowers, making this one of the closest times in history that the world came to using nuclear weapons. During debate sessions, delegates in the United Nations Security Council will explore different alternatives and outcomes through diplomacy and international cooperation, with the goal of preventing a nuclear war.
