UNICEF: Addressing Child Recruitment by Armed Gangs and Safeguarding Children's Rights Amid the Collapse of Public Services in HaitiĀ

Haiti's devastating humanitarian crisis, marked by over 1.4 million people displaced internally, has collapsed the communities on which children depend. As a consequence, child recruitment by armed groups surged by 200% in 2025 alone. Facing economic desperation, separation from families, and direct coercion, children are forced into armed groups for survival. Meanwhile, they are exposed to significant physical and psychological harm, while also severely disrupting their access to education and development.
